Courier Mail article

Today the Courier Mail published an article about Caign Webs and its implementation of a corporate website for South Bank Corporation at www.southbankcorporation.com.au.

The first part of the article focused more on a related topic: tips about things a small business should consider when developing a website. I found it pretty easy to come up with a whole host of these - you have to learn a few things after being in the website business for several years!...

Not having been interviewed much, I found it quite an interesting process how my information got translated into a "news worthy" story. There's not a actually that much space in a newspaper article so the journalist needs to pick the eyes out of things. And of course the article needs to start with a catchy line, which turned out to be "You've only got five seconds." This referred to how much time it takes a website visitor to form an impression of your site.

While the article contained quite a number of the things I mentioned, it did not list everything methodically. So I'll write an article on the Caign Webs website myself shortly. (I'll post a link here.)

In the second part of the article, Susie Johnson from South Bank Corporation shared how we created the website to share her vision to tell the South Bank story, using:

  • Drupal 6 open source content management system
  • Flash
  • Javascript
  • Video
  • Interactive maps
  • NewsMark email marketing software
  • Custom developed 'person pickers'
  • Search engine optimisation

I'm planning to write a case study for drupal.org to answer all your questions! How it was conceived and created, what sort of technical challenges we faced and how the site was implemented. Stay tuned!
